Smoky Mountain Twilight

The Great Smoky Mountains earned their name from the blue-gray haze that drifts over the ridgelines — layer after layer fading into mist, as if the mountains themselves were breathing. It’s a place where black bears still move quietly through the trees, where synchronous fireflies light up the meadows for a few weeks each summer, and where dusk seems to last a little longer than anywhere else. This piece was drawn and painted to hold onto that stillness — the hush that settles over the hills as day gives way to evening, and the quiet company of the wild things that call it home.
